TOM WILLIAMS - AUTHOR
LOST AND FOUND
Two days after BRIAN PAULISS and PETER
CLOPEC reprogram a geological survey satellite; they are fired and
accused of crashing the orbiting spacecraft. One day later, a
beautiful young woman is strangled after she delivers a compact disk
proving that Brian and Peter are innocent. What is found on the
computer disk however is far beyond the normal telemetry of a
satellite designed to search for future oil fields. When Peter and
Brian reprogrammed the radar from the satellite, they had no idea
the orbiting spacecraft would find 97 anomalies with a strong
signature for gold. 97 anomalies all over the world, and all over
water: all the lost shipwrecks and all the lost gold undiscovered
for centuries.
One year earlier, a West Texas oil company hired Peter and Brian to
manage the latest technology in petroleum discovery: an orbiting
spacecraft housing a ground penetrating radar. Both men are English
academics and have a much better grasp on the fields of their
expertise than on their personal lives. Peter is a brilliant
geologist but an emotional wreck. Only months before, on his
fiftieth birthday, his wife and daughter were killed by a terrorist
bomb in London. Brian is a late forties, chain-smoking; aerospace
engineer divorced from his second wife, and determined to win his
private battle with mid-life-crisis.
After Brian convinces Peter that the computer disk contains all the
lost treasure ships sunk around the world, the two men embark on the
greatest adventure of their lives: a mission to prove that the
satellite results are true.
On the closest, and what they believe to be the shallowest and
easiest wreck site to salvage, they meet BILLIE JOHNSON. Billie is
strikingly beautiful dive-captain and salvage expert in southwest
Florida. Her staggering beauty and perky spirit rekindle a
springtime of emotions that both Peter and Brian had thought
forgotten. The men also realize, as a hurricane approaches, and
threatens their salvage dive site that Billie needs help to escape
from her abusive husband dysfunctional lifestyle.
With an orange glow rising in the midnight sky, Billie pulls the
anchors on her salvage-dive rig and begins piloting the hundred-foot
vessel back to her family owned marina. With Peter and Brian
standing at her side, Billie faces her worst nightmare: her entire
marina and home burned to the ground and a fleet of customer's boats
burned and sunk at the docks.
Unbeknownst to Peter, Brian, and Billie, CEDRIC BOWLES: the security
director from the West Texas oil company knows all about the
computer disk and has been following after murdering the young woman
in Texas who was the first person to acquire the disk.
The adventure continues as Billie travels with Peter and Brian
onward to the richest wreck site of the 97 anomalies: an ancient
shipwreck off the Black Sea coast in Turkey. With Billie's expertise
in diving and salvage the lost treasure ship of King Midas is
discovered along with a new and local adversary and the relentless
pursuit of Cedric Bowles. What Billie ultimately discovers is she
has found something far more valuable than gold, and without Peter
Clopec, her newfound hope for a new love and a new life would be all
but lost.
